Topical Administration Platform
DermaPrep is a needle-free topical delivery device for liquid formulations. DermaPrep Kit consists of three components:
body sponge, medical tape and transparent patch. To facilitate the penetration of substances, the skin is cleansed and exfoliated
prior to application of the empty dressing that serves to retain the liquid in a moist environment.
Main features of DermaPrep:
- Easy, painless administration of liquid formulations
- Safe, convenient, non-toxic, and non-invasive
- Wide range of applications
- Long shelf-life and ambient storage conditions
- Repeated transport of molecules via the skin
- Supporting preclinical and clinical safety and tolerability data
- Crucial skin preparation method
- Improves the penetration of substances via the skin
- Ensures fast penetration and short treatment time
- Well tolerated
- The patch does not contain the active ingredient(s)
- No need for co-formulation expenses or additional stability studies
- The applied product can be stored separately from the patch (at -80°C, -20°C, 4°C, or lyophilized) and administered at room temperature
- Topical administration of products with limited stability at room temperature - ideal for sensitive/unstable substances (e.g. vaccines)
- Flexible dose selection with no concentration or dose limit of the applicable substance: higher doses can be delivered by increasing the size or the number of patches applied.
- Optimal for personalized treatment
- Targeted delivery of substances to
- Lymphoid tissues - Biologics (e.g., vaccines, nanomedicines, antigens). Proven in mice, macaques and human subjects
- Blood - Sensitive/unstable drugs (e.g., cancer chemotherapy)
- Dermis, epidermis - Cosmetics (e.g., skin rejuvenation, acne)
- Currently used in Phase II trials in Europe and the U.S.
DermaPrep offers the advantage of flexible dose selection. There is no substance concentration and volume limitation. It allows personalized treatment.
By increasing the size or the number of the applied patches higher vaccine doses can be delivered without any discomfort for the patient.
